Is it? Because I think its VERY telling that you are attempting to derail conversations you don't expressly agree with, instead of contributing a legitimate point of view

Peglius

Don't you belong elsewhere, in a land where personal attacks suffice for meaningful conversation?

it should also be pointed out that, in the US, it's unconstitutional. Only the Federal Government has the power to print money. Not a private banking institution run by unelected members. One thing that the Federal Reserve is NOT is a government agency. In fact, it is about as "federal" as Federal Express.

As long as the creation of money is divorced from the people at large who use money. Money will continually be concentrated into the hands of the very few. It will collapse eventually.

madmalloy

Banks should be a public utility, not privately owned.

Although I agree, I tend to wonder what would happen with our inept government directly in charge of the printing presses. They have the purse, what it the purse was bottomless (in that they just legislate to print more)?

I mean, now its pretty much proven that income tax is the repayment of the interest the government owes to the Fed for borrowing.

I guess what I am trying to say is although not having the Fed would be outstanding, would having our idiot rulers be much better?

Peglius

well first of all according to the Constitution ONLY congress can print money, and i think that if you eliminate the vast amount of voter fraud and elect people that actually have the people of this nations best interest at hand (using currency as a public utility), then we would see a much more balanced nation!

simple yet so so so so true, people walk around in slave chains and smile and consume, smile and consume......

Money is the problem, Michael Tellinger puts a good argument down about how we could survive, if not thrive in a society where we eliminated currency. At least I would like to believe that is possible.

spasticbadger

Do you have a link? That sounds fascinating.

We had to be convinced long ago that money had value, and that there was a such thing as 'private property'. Mutual Aid by Kropotkin is a great source.

Great story, an Africa woman once starved to death with two dollars in her pocket! She didn't know she could buy food with paper. It was during the time of colonization, the Europeans were trying to convince the Africans to work for paper, they wouldn't, so they forced them, and then you get slavery. Now we work for paper willingly, and they call it a right of man to find work...when actually, its the right of man to be a slave!
