This is what I advocate as well, however, I just don't know that it's anything more than a nice thought. I mean it's lovely in theory but it's not realistic in practice. Sure you may have a garden so long as "they" permit it, you can have skills which are valuable and you may barter to acquire the things you need as long as "they" allow you to, but this is the problem isn't it. At any moment they can deploy any number of tactics to destroy the ability for you to carry on with this lifestyle, there is no longer freedom to live as you wish. Its over.

can always use the tools & weapons of them against them. hijack channels of communications to carry subversive symbols & messages. open source operation latte thunder

Only be 'for' something, never against. Being 'against' something means devoting energy to that something..by mostly devoting your energy to the things you are 'for', you gain a reality with a surplus of inspirational surroundings. "You become what you eat/drink/.../think" :)

This is good.

My only comment would be that sometimes you just plain have to fight.

I don't think anybody can do everything on that list, but surely everybody can do onething or something or more something's than yesterday.

We aim for a snowball effect!!!

But good luck making a computer or anything more sophisticated than from the 1700s.

letthelightin

You're point is valid for the moment - the dawn of 3D printers that can print themselves & electronics will change this.

Lobotomy

That's not going to fix anything. You are just a drop in the bucket. Self-reliance is nice, and I would go as far as to say one of the more important things you can do as a person, but if you want to stop 'them', in my case, that being the government, then blood MUST be shed. There is no other way.

fr33europe

Or you could do nothing. Great attitude.

Lobotomy

I did not suggest doing nothing, in fact, I even said he had a good idea, the only thing is, you have to be realistic, here. People are fucking stupid, easily manipulated, and fallacious beasts, who will always take an official narrative over a local one, because people like to be herded like cattle. What OP is suggesting won't change the world, and it's not going to garner the following that he thinks it will, because ideals have no place in reality.

Do nothing? No. Have realistic expectations? Yes.

The ocean is made of drops of water.

Fighting fire with fire doesn't work. Having said that, backburing in the cooler months is prudent.

Lobotomy

That's a truism if I've ever heard one. It's pretty clear that fighing fire by playing by fire's rules also doesn't work. Blood must be shed.

Atarian

Ten million drops is an ocean.

Lobotomy

Ten million drops is probably the bucket, let's be honest. The ocean is pretty big.

I see what you're saying, but people are still too comfortable with society, and I feel that it's too late for the public majority. Things won't change until people start disappearing en masse, but by that point, our feeble, conditioned, population will be far too afraid and disarmed to act. We're too caught up in 'identity politics' and hurt feelings to deal with it now.

k_digi

i'm 'Them' you can chat right to me - i agree with a lot of what you say here.

ultimately you make the choices. you are doing the things that make your 'reality.' there is no exception. and no one is excepted.

Atarian

You're right - this kills The Man.

ElspethTirel

No, it doesn't. It's the same bullshit tactic that Nixon used to help the hippie infestation of the 70s.

You know what kills the man? Actual weapons.

Atarian

I don't want to be a D&C shill, so I've deleted what I was going to reply to you.

I just want to say instead that I think you're one of the best posters in this subverse.
