I couldn't agree with you more there. There are still things you'd need hard currency for such as petrol, utilities, etc. but at least for the most part you're helping someone and in exchange that someone helps you.

You can also trade your service/product for someone else's service/product. I do work on a website for a bookkeeper on a monthly basis and in exchange he provides me with his bookkeeping service. I also drive to elderly folks to drop off fruits & veggies and in exchange I get a 50% discount at the farmers market.

People still hold real power over the banks/bankers. If everyone in the country decided to withdraw all their money... what do you think would happen to the banks?
