Remember back in the 90s when an Italian court ruled that women in jeans couldn't be raped because jeans required assistance from the person wearing them to get them off, which equaled consent?? (They repealed it later, but still. Not top-bar over there in Italy. Except when it comes to shoes. DAMN their shoes are awesome.)

Look guys - this is fine. No more vaccines for Italy, okay? Their economy is in the shitter right now and the people whose children die off from polio, Chicken pox, Hep, etc would only have been more of a drag on the economy. Let's be adults here.

People who don't want to vaccinate their children, fine - don't vaccinate. However we have some children with actual illnesses who depend upon herd immunity to live. They cannot get the vaccine, because it will kill them. (Kids with AIDS, kids with leukemia, kids who climb on rocks... and are allergic to eggs.) They depend on the herd to be vaccinated against the vaccine because their kids could actually fucking die . Just because you're terrified your kid might be slow, or need to work harder to learn, or be somewhere on the autism spectrum isn't a reason to endanger them .

A dead kid means less to you than a handicapped kid. We get it. Because then the dead kid isn't your kid. That's fine. But understand that the rest of the herd sees you and your children as possible disease arks, and no one wants to hang out with you. Keep your potential plague carriers away from everyone else and don't be pissy about it.

We won't give you are hard time about potentially killing your kids, so don't give us a hard time about keeping our kids healthy. Good for the courts in Italy and the people studying the effects of vaccines. There is no such thing as a perfect drug, and if hundreds need to die so that several dozen don't have to attend special school, so be it. I'm sure this will spawn another round of people not immunizing their children, but it will be in Europe where all those already unvaccinated immigrants are swarming in with diseases that the rest of us all but eradicated almost a century ago. It's fine , guys. Europe knows what it is doing.

Atarian

My kid is immunized, so I'm not an anti-vaxxer, but you're coming across like a big jerk. A big sheepy jerk that just loves his herd and his nice, warm, snuggly place in it.

strawman argument is straw

Sikozen

BWAHAHAHAHA... haaa... haaaa... aahhhh....

Strawman has become the new buzzword for people don't understand sarcasm and can't take an extremist joke. It's cool, little guy.

You'll get 'em next time!

thisismyfist

what are you autist? You do realize text cant convey intent, especially when you end it with "Let's be adults here".

If you had no point but to be sarcastic why did you contribute at all? That type of thing is best left on reddit.

What?

Vaccines

Remember back in the 90s when

False equivalence.

No more vaccines for Italy, okay?

Nobody said anything about all vaccines. You're already distorting what was said to fit your narrative.

Actually, no - a question. There was a shoe comment in there, if you cared to show the entire quote, was meant to to keep it light.

Nobody said anything about all vaccines. You're already distorting what was said to fit your narrative.

And you just got out of classes and rolled onto the internet to show off your amazing ability to take everything said literally so you can feel like you're fighting the good fight from your PC. Take your BS back to Reddit, troll.

This industry document provided ample evidence of adverse events from the vaccine, including five known cases of autism resulting from the vaccine’s administration during its clinical trials (see table at page 626, excerpt below).

And also

Two years earlier, on May 23, 2012, Judge Lucio Ardigo of an Italian court in Rimini presided over a similar judgment, finding that a different vaccine, the Measles-Mumps-Rubella vaccine (MMR), had caused a child’s autism.

(See: Italian MMR Remini decision 2012 ) As in the Milan case, the Ministry of Health’s compensation program had denied compensation to the family, yet after a presentation of medical evidence, a court granted compensation.

There, too, the Italian press covered the story; the U.S. press did not.

In that case, a 15-month old boy received his MMR vaccine on March 26, 2004. He then immediately developed bowel and eating problems and received an autism diagnosis with cognitive delay within a year.

The court found that the boy had “been damaged by irreversible complications due to vaccination (with trivalent MMR).”
